13 Ways To Treat Yourself Without Spending Any Money

I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that the “treat yo’ self” motto is one that I can get behind.

To reward yourself for tiny accomplishments or just for a little pick-me-up to help you get through the week, it’s important (and fun) to indulge yourself every once in a while. And trust me, I love any and every excuse for shopping, but it’s not always a good idea to spend money every time you feel like doing something special for yourself.

In fact, there are quite a few ways that you can increase your mood and feel like you did something nice for yourself without costing you anything.

Getting out and about in the sun, or doing the exact opposite and staying in your robe all day can feel just as good as buying something new. The next time you feel like treating yourself, give any of these 13 free things a try.

1. Exercise

Doing a little at home exercise video or getting outside and going for a jog can release endorphins and increase your mood. It’s a great way to be good to your body and yourself.

2. Pamper At Home

Painting your nails, doing a facial, or taking a bubble bath can be soothing and relaxing. And you deserve some R&R.

3. Read

Snuggling up with a blanket and a good book can be all of the reprieve you need from a stressful work week.

4. Go For A Stroll

Taking a leisurely walk can do wonders. It’s both great exercise and just fun to take in your surroundings. Walk along a path you’ve been thousands of times or try exploring somewhere new. Either way, I’m sure you’ll notice something different and still feel like you got to do something nice for yourself.

5. Bake A Sweet

Need a pick-me-up? A batch of cupcakes should do just the trick! Have some fun with the baking, decorating and eating process. Nom. Nom. I think I’ll make some right now. I deserve a little treat, don’t you, too?

6. Netflix & Chill

There’s nothing quite like some binge watching and popcorn to treat yo’ self. So, put on those sweatpants, pop some popcorn and get ready to see the “Are you still watching?” question pop up quite a few times. The night is young, after all.

7. Eat Lunch Outside

Take advantage of that lunch hour! Soaking up the sun and eating outside either at a picnic table or on a blanket in the grass will help you forget about anything that’s going on at work, at least for a little while.

8. Stay In Your Robe

Sometimes sitting around in your robe all day is just the kind of special treatment you need.

9. Jam To Music

Put on some music and have a little jam session. There’s nothing like a little singing and dancing around your living room to make you feel better.

10. Do Something Creative

Do you love to paint? Or write? Whatever you like to do but don’t often “have time for” should become an activity you do when you need a reward. It can be really good to let loose and do something super creative.

11. Play A Game

Play a board game with your family and/or friends for a night of good old-fashioned fun.

12. Cuddle Up With Your Significant Other (Or Schedule Some Time With Your Bestie)

Get some snuggle time in with your significant other or call up your best friend and hang out for a while. Spending quality time with the people you love is sure to feel like a reward.

13. Call Someone You Haven’t Talked To In A While

Whether it’s a friend or a family member, give someone you haven’t spoken to in ages a call and have a quality conversation that isn’t rushed. I’m sure it’ll feel good to talk to them.

You never knew rewarding yourself could be so simple, now did you? Go on and treat yo’ self!
