If you’re looking for a replacement for pork, you may now have one. Jackfruit, the largest tree-borne fruit in the world, is apparently a tasty plant-based substitute for meat.

It’s becoming popular in the US and being used in tacos, “pulled pork” sandwiches, and other pork-based dishes.

The fruit is native to South and Southeast Asia, but it is now more commonly being sold in the United States due to its popularity with vegetarians.

It can be purchased pre-sliced by the pound, and it can be fried, baked, and even barbecued. After an hour of so or cooking, the fruit is said to taste like pulled pork.

As far as nutritional value goes, the jackfruit is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, fiber, and more. If you want to try the fruit yourself, look for it in Asian or health food specialty stores.
