Brilliant Parents Sell Coffee In The School Drop-Off Line

Heather Rael

Sometimes it only takes a cup of coffee to change a hectic day. This was the exact thought from two parents who decided sell coffee at a school drop-off line.

In a town outside Durham, North Carolina, Gabriel and Heather Rael have set up a food truck, named Caffe Ole, in the parking lot of the charter school that their children attend.

The parents moved to North Carolina from New Mexico five years ago and recently bought a food truck as a side business, hoping to make their own hours and connect with people in an unconventional way.

Gabriel Rael was waiting in line one day during pick-up and thought a place for parents and teachers to get a cup of coffee was the perfect idea.

“He thought it would be nice to be able to get out the car and get something while waiting in line,” Heather told TODAY Parents. “He also remembered when I was a teacher and I always wanted a place where I could get a good cup of coffee, so hence the coffee truck at the school.”

One parent, Leigh Fickling said she gets to school a few minutes early just for the coffee. The coffee truck is set up in the back of the parking lot so as to not disturb the flow of the drop-off line.

Per TODAY, Parents and teachers alike seemed thrilled to have Caffe Ole around each morning.

This is a pretty genius business idea, isn’t it? Now if only there was a coffee truck everywhere we turned, the world would be a little happier, isn’t that right?
