Who Remembers The Chevy El Camino?

Does anyone remember the old El Camino?  People have a love hate relationship with this uniquely designed car.  The half car/half truck had two production runs (officially, it’s classified as a truck).  It was first released in 1959, but it only lasted a couple of years. Chevy then re-introduced the car in 1964 with a more successful run and produced it for over 20 years.

I always found the car a bit fascinating.  It’s like it couldn’t make up its mind if it wanted to be a pickup truck or car.  It feels as if it’s the mullet of the car world – a truck in the back, a car in front.  One of my favorite high school teachers drove one of these classics and it definitely earned him some good respect from the kids at school.

The classic car has developed quite the cult following.  There are multiple Facebook fan pages and websites dedicated to it.  And I see why, the vehicle has a unique spot in American car history.

Now, there are rumors that the El Camino may make a return.  Check out the concepts below.  It looks pretty cool.  There is no official word from Chevy but that hasn’t stopped people from getting excited.
