12 Pretty Sweet Discounts You Can Get If You Are A Teacher

Teaching is surely one of the more challenging—and yet often thankless—jobs out there. Wrangling a classroom full of students, shaping young minds and keeping your cool while doing it is no easy feat.

As a way to honor the noble profession that is teaching, many retailers, cultural institutions, restaurants and more offer discounts when you flash your teacher ID. So, to all those who teach: Thank you and check out this list of discounts.

1. The Container Store 

Organization can be expensive! The Container Store offers teachers special discounts throughout the year when you sign up for the Organized Teacher discount program.

2. J.Crew

Get 15 percent off when you flash your school ID in-store (this applies in the factory store and Madewell, which is owned by J.Crew, as well—score!).

3. AT&T

If you are an educator from an eligible institution, you can save 15 percent off your monthly bill. Enter your email address to find out.

4. Sprint

AT&T’s not the only network to give teachers a break. Sprint gives up to 18 percent off monthly bills for teachers in participating schools.

5. Apple

Faculty, staff and even students can save 5-10 percent when shopping through the Apple Educational Store.

6. First Book

If your school is a Title 1 school (or Title 1 eligible), you can get books at low (or no) cost through this non-profit organization. According to the US Department of Education, Title 1 schools have high percentages of children form low-income families and are eligible for financial assistance programs. 7. Barnes & Noble

If you’re a teacher, chances are you fancy books. Educators get 20 percent off list price plus 25 percent off on certain Teacher Appreciation Days at B&N.

8. West Elm

It’s so hard to leave this store empty-handed. Sign up for savings of 10-15 percent with a valid ID or school-supplied email address.

9. Marriott Hotels

Start thinking about spring break! Public school teachers are eligible for special rates and offers (as are other government employees) at participating Marriott properties.

10. Fedex Office

Save 15 percent off on shipping via Fedex’s National Educators Discount Program.

11. Farmers Insurance & Liberty Mutual 

Even insurance providers want to find a way to thank educators. Contact local agents for savings on insurance rates from Farmers and Liberty Mutual.

12. Scholastic

Scholastic has a store exclusively for Teachers, called the Teacher Store. Products sold range from boots, classroom supplies and decor, instructional games and more. Make sure you definitely check out their sale section for even greater savings.
