How To Make A Lego Table In 6 Easy Steps

Legos are among my kids’ favorite toys, but gosh they are messy.

In our house it goes something like this: Step 1) Dump giant plastic tub of bricks directly onto carpet and Step 2) Scatter. Inevitably, someone (me) ends up stepping on one and crying real actual tears because it hurts so bad. I often think this is god’s way of punishing me for yelling at my girls, but I digress.

If Legos are a hit in your house, but you don’t enjoy stepping on them, you may consider building a Lego table.

Follow these simple instructions for Lego table perfection.

1. Find an old coffee table.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just make sure the table you score is sturdy.

2. Sand and paint the table.

You’ll want to give the old table a fresh start.

3. Buy enough baseplates to cover the top.

Though before you buy the baseplates, you’ll need to decide what type of Legos your table will sport: classic or Duplo. Then purchase enough 10 by 10-inch sheets to cover it, recognizing that some cutting will be required.

4. Measure and fit the sheets using Legos to connect them.

This is important. You may be inclined to simply glue the sheets flush against each other, but that would be a mistake.

Line your sheets up using Legos to connect them to be sure your bricks will snap easily onto the finished table.

5. Glue baseplates to the table.

Once your baseplates are connected using Lego bricks it’s time to glue them down. Expert crafters recommend Mod Podge or Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.

6. Organize with cute baskets.

Arrange Lego-filled baskets under the table.

Those of us who can’t help ourselves will use these baskets to organize by color, shape and size.
