Make Your Own ‘Matilda’ Chocolate Cake

Jonathan Boulton

In author Roald Dahl’s book “Matilda,” there’s a character named Bruce Bogtrotter. As many of you probably know, Bruce stole a slice of his teacher Miss Trunchbull’s favorite chocolate cake. As a punishment for stealing a slice of her cake, Trunchbull makes him eat the rest of the enormous cake.

The movie version of “Matilda”—starring Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman—came out in 1996. For the movie’s 20th anniversary, Delish had the brilliant idea to make their own Matilda-inspired chocolate cake.

Here’s how:

Take Devil’s Food cake mix

1

Add pudding mix

2

Add water

Add Greek Yogurt

4

…and eggs

5

7

10

15
