How To Make Pull-Apart Christmas Tree Bread—The Perfect Last-Minute Holiday Appetizer

Delish

It’s here — Christmastime! Whether you’re just spending a special evening at home with your family or hosting your own holiday gathering, we’ve found the perfect festive holiday appetizer that tastes great and is super easy to make. Plus, it’s adorable to look at. Even if you’re not desperate for a last-minute dish to bring to your Christmas get-together, you’ll want to make this once you see how deliciously fun this one is. So, without further adieu, we give you: Christmas tree pull-apart bread.

If you’ve ever had pull-apart bread before, you know how soft, gooey and flavorful it is. It’s a great option when you’re having guests or a lot of people around the dinner table, as it’s easy for each person to pull apart their own portion. This particular pull-apart bread from Delish is shaped into a Christmas tree, which means it also happens to look super awesome when laid out on the table.

The cheesy bread is topped with parmesan and herbs to look like a snow-fallen Christmas tree. It’s so pretty that you almost won’t want to eat it — except that it’s cheesy bread, so of course, you will!

The best part about this recipe is that there’s not much in the way of cooking or baking skills required. All you need is 1 pound of store-bought pizza dough (either from the grocery store or picked up from your favorite pizza joint), 7 sticks of mozzarella (yep, just raid the kids’ string cheese), some grated parmesan cheese, an egg, some melted butter and lots of chopped, fresh herbs (like basil, parsley and/or rosemary).

Then it’s all about the assembly. Cut the mozzarella sticks into 1-inch pieces and roll a 2-inch square of dough around it so it forms a nice little ball. Arrange the balls into a Christmas tree shape on a baking sheet and brush with some egg wash (egg whisked with a tablespoon of water). Bake them in a 450-degree oven for 15-20 minutes.

As soon as they come out, brush them with a mouthwatering mixture of melted butter plus the Parmesan cheese and herbs. Serve with some yummy marinara sauce on the side for dipping, and there you have it: the perfect Christmas appetizer!
