Why Emma Watson Refused To Wear A Corset In The ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Remake

Emma Watson is pretty much the coolest chick ever. Not only is she an awesome actress who rocked the part of Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” series, but she is also a brilliant woman (she is an Ivy League grad) and an active philanthropist.

Most importantly, she is also a stellar role model for young girls and women around the globe. She has been very outspoken about the need for global gender equality, and making the world a safer and more equitable place for girls and women everywhere.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Watson is also hard at work on a movie we can’t wait to see in 2017, the live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast.”

Yes, you heard us right! The remake is hotly anticipated by Disney fans of all ages.

But this news isn’t the only thing that people are talking about. Watson recently made headlines when she discussed how she refused to wear a corset for her role in the “Beauty and The Beast” remake.

She told an Entertainment Weekly reporter that she wanted her character to be active and able to move freely, something which is very difficult to do in a restraining corset.

It’s a decision that is right on par with Watson’s globally recognized work as a feminist spokesperson.

Watson’s decision also stands in stark contrast to Lily James’ waist in the live-action version of “Cinderella.” James wore a corset for her role, and many were alarmed at how tiny she appeared and the message that may send to young viewers.

Watson is using her position of power to help spread messages of strength and gender equality, and starring in a incredible movie at the same time. Win-win!

We can’t wait to see Watson in her un-corseted splendor in “Beauty and the Beast” when it comes out next March.
