Residents Of A Boise Neighborhood Woke Up To 118 Goats Running Loose On Their Lawns

You’ve heard of a plague of locusts. But a plague of … goats?!?

That’s exactly what one Boise, Idaho, town found itself in the midst of when residents woke up to find 118 goats loose in their neighborhood, eating everything in their path. Thankfully the local news was there to capture all of the magic:

“My mom was shaking me up like crazy, and she was like ‘Ben, come outside!’ and I was like ‘what, what?'” resident Ben Dunn told KTVB. “I looked out, and I was like, ‘oh dang.'”

Oh dang indeed. As it turns out, KTVB reports that the herd was nearby munching on some grass at a retention pond when they escaped through a fence so they could … munch on different grass.

And so, unencumbered by fences or owners, the goats roamed throughout the neighborhood, wandering to their hearts’ content and ignoring all sorts of traffic laws.

As it turns out, the goats were owned by a company called “We Rent Goats,” which, as you might have guessed, rents goats. So in a sense, the neighborhood actually got some free work done before they were finally corralled.

“Half the neighborhood’s lawn has been cut — I mean, mowing for free!” Dunn told KTVB. “It’s kind of funny to see them in the road a ton, like not even caring about the cars.”

In fact, people these days pay a lot of money to be in the presence of goats. The residents should have set up some mats on the road and done some sunrise yoga. Or set up some obstacles and do some goat parkour.

The story of course has taken off, because goats. The original tweet by reporter Joe Parris has been retweeted more than 29,000 times and (more importantly) has inspired lots of baaaaad goat puns:
