5 of the ‘Avengers’ got matching tattoos

“Avengers: Infinity War” is killing it at the box office, having made $1 billion in just 11 days.

To commemorate the success and the experience of making the superhero flick, Robert Downey Jr. has just revealed that he and several other members of the “Avengers” cast got matching tattoos — proving that the team’s fun didn’t stop at filming this parody of “The Brady Bunch” theme song.

Of course, the collective tattoo is an image of “The Avengers” logo. The number “6” also appears to be drawn on top of the logo, presumably as a nod to the six superheroes who make up The Avengers.

Downey told Entertainment Weekly that “five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo,” including himself, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth. The only Avenger who opted out? Mark Ruffalo, although Downey admits that Hemsworth was quite hesitant, too, but that “we just bullied [him] into doing it.” Hey, who can resist peer pressure from superheroes?

You can see a video of Downey getting the tattoo in this video he posted on his Instagram:

While the tattoos may seem pretty straightforward, some internet sleuths claim that there are secret symbols hidden in the logo. Instead of simply being the number 6 drawn over the Avengers symbol, some Reddit users are wondering if there are hidden symbols of each superhero entwined within the image, such as Hulk’s face (lower right) or Thor’s hammer (second from the bottom on the left).

Hmm. While it’s a creative drawing, we simply don’t know what inspiration the tattoo artist (Josh Lord) had in mind. However, we DO know that once Lord was done inking the cast, they returned the favor. Yep. Each of the five Avengers who were present helped to tattoo Lord with their special logo. Guess he’s now an honorary member of the superheroes club! How cool is that?

This is not the first time Lord has been tattooed by a celebrity. He’s a very prominent tattoo artist who has tattooed a number of celebrities, like singer Skylar Grey, and who has even been tattooed by Rihanna herself! Hmm … we wonder which celeb is gonna ink him next.

What Groot Says To Rocket At The End Of The Film

Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t seen “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” beware there are spoilers ahead!

In the final scene of “Avengers: Infinity War,” half of the Avengers seemingly die after the villain Thanos turns half of the universe’s population to ash using the Infinity Stones.

Among those killed is Groot, the cute and sometimes sassy sentient tree creature from the Guardians of the Galaxy. Before he fades away in Rocket Raccoon’s arms, Groot utters his final words, “I am Groot.” However, as fans know, that’s only what the audience hears. Groot is actually speaking a language that is indecipherable to most. While everything he says sounds like “I am Groot” to viewers, those words actually have a different meaning each time he speaks them. So what do Groot’s words to Rocket actually mean?

A fan reached out to James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, to inquire about the meaning of Groot’s final words from “Avengers: Infinity War,” and Gunn’s answer was pretty crushing:

Gunn said that the line appears in the script as “Dad.”

He’s also said that the version of Groot in “Avengers: Infinity War” is the child of the full-grown Groot who died in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. That clarification cleared up some confusion for fans, as some were not sure if the new Groot was a reincarnation of the original character.

Now that we know that the new Groot is actually the original’s offspring, it makes the “Dad” line even more sad. The line makes it apparent that teen Groot considers Rocket to be his father.

People were shook by this devastating information, and Gunn’s tweet was inundated with more than 2,000 replies and 26,000 retweets, with most fans expressing how emotionally affected they were by the revelation.

Gunn then came back the next day to say that he didn’t realize how impactful his answer would be and apologized for causing so much distress, but also emphasized how happy he is that the characters are so meaningful to fans:

Wow! Does this revelation make the ending of “Avengers: Infinity War” even more devastating to you?
