These 7 organization tips from Pinterest will make going back to school a cinch
The weeks and days before the kids go back to school tend to turn into a chaotic frenzy. Trying to wrap up summer activities, buy school supplies and get the house clean and organized in preparation for harried fall mornings is a daunting task. Luckily, Pinterest has rounded up some amazing hacks, recipes and organizing tips to make the back-to-school season a little less stressful. Here are seven of our favorites:
1. Organize All Those Hair Accessories
Little barrettes, little hair ties and little headbands can add up to a big mess. Get all her hair accessories organized with a DIY organizing system that’s as cute as it is effective. Turn a picture frame into a customized hair accessory holder with this tutorial from blogger Mom & Wife, or check out these other fun DIY ideas on Pinterest.
2. Plan Outfits For The Week
Tackle the week’s outfits like you do the week’s meals, and put in some planning time on Sunday night to set yourself up for the rest of the week. Assemble outfits for each child for each day of the week and then separate them using the organizing method of your choice. Some options include using hanging closet organizer cubbies like Melanie who runs the blog 40 Eighteen, plastic bins or handmade day-of-the-week hanger tags. It’s one less thing to think about in the morning rush—in fact, you might want to consider doing it for yourself.
3. Create A Drop Zone
With a little planning, you can keep the kids’ belongings and clutter from taking over your entry—even if you don’t have a full-size mudroom. Blogger Emily A. Clark created a drop zone in her garage using some simple storage cubes and coat hooks. The result? No more coats and backpacks strewn all over the entryway floor.
4. Warm Up Kids’ Minds On The Way To School
Car games don’t have to be reserved for long road trips. Rachel at the blog I Heart Crafty Things created this word-building travel kit using a lunch box and magnetic letters. It’s a perfect way for little kids to practice their spelling while you’re stuck in traffic.
5. Whip Up Some To-Go Breakfasts
Breakfast is brain food, but it’s hard to get kids to eat before school. To the rescue? Handheld, on-the-go goodies, like these vegetable-packed egg muffin cups, no-bake energy balls and fruit-filled yogurt bark (seen below, from Go Eat and Repeat).
6. Put Lunch On A Stick
Another boring sandwich? No thanks. Keep lunch exciting every day by putting the basics on a stick, with fun lunch kebabs like these created by blogger Mom on Timeout.
7. Or Put Lunch In A Pocket
Your kids will love the novelty of foods like taco pop tarts (shown below, from I Heart Naptime) and homemade PB&J uncrustables, and they’re also easy to make and less messy than traditional tacos or sandwiches. Bon appetit!
