7 Things You Need To Do Before Houseguests Arrive

Planning on having houseguests over? Prep your home before anyone arrives. Whether you are entertaining for a few hours or a few days, make your home feel welcoming and inviting to all who step through your front door. With a few simple tricks you can transform your home into the perfect space for entertaining. No fancy decor needed!

1. Tidy up

Don’t let your guests arrive to a dirty house. Clean up your space by organizing the areas where you’ll be entertaining your guests. This doesn’t mean that you need to be scrubbing the baseboards, but a light cleaning will do the trick.

2. Stock the fridge

It’s always best to have food and beverages to offer your guest when they arrive. Whether it’s a simple cheese plate or an all-out buffet, I’m sure your guests will appreciate the gesture.

3. Take out the trash

No one wants smelly trash lingering around. Take out the garbage before your guests arrive to ensure a smell-free household.

4. Wipe down counters

If your guests will be hanging out in the kitchen, it’s best to make sure the counters are wiped down and organized. This really adds a refreshing feel to the room without having to do a lot of work.

5. Have clean linens

Are you guests staying overnight? Do a simple wash of any spare towels and sheets that your guests may be using. This is a great touch that your guests are sure to appreciate.

6. Consider the bathroom

Is there enough toilet paper? Is there soap and hand towels available? Having the bathroom clean and prepped is a great way to avoid any awkward situations for you and your guests.

7. Ask about allergies

When having guests over, it’s always important to ask about allergies before anyone arrives. Some guests might be sensitive to various soaps, while other could have food allergies. By addressing any allergies beforehand will ensure that your guests have the best time possible.
