7-year-old girl stuns crowd with moving rendition of the national anthem

Sports games always have a powerhouse voice perform the national anthem for the crowds. But usually, the singer honored with such a performance is not still in elementary school.

But when 7-year-old Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja took the field at the LA Galaxy soccer match on Sept. 23 at the StubHub Center, that’s exactly what happened and no one could have anticipated the powerful voice that emerged from her tiny body. The pint-sized performer wowed everyone who heard her.

She even thanked the audience and waved at the end, like a true professional. Here are some adorable action shots from her performance:

Even the opposing team, the Seattle Sounders, agreed that she stole the show, writing that she was “fantastic” on Twitter.

Check out her awesome performance in the video below, posted to Twitter by LA Galaxy:

Not Her First Major Performance

This is not Malea’s first time performing for a huge audience either. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl this past summer in a performance of “Annie.” She has taken singing lessons since age 3, and she also acts and models. You may have seen her in commercials for Progressive Insurance and Jeep.

If you’d like to hear more of Malea’s singing, check out her website, where you can hear her belting out renditions of songs like “Creep” by Radiohead, “Think” by Aretha Franklin and “In My Blood” by Sean Mendes. Such range!

The little girl is obviously a natural, and according to her dad, Arman Tjandrawidjaja, she’s already quite ambitious as well.

“If you ask her, her main wish is to sing with Christina Aguilera,” he told USA Today. “That is her main goal. She is her favorite singer. But for us, well, she is still pretty young. We don’t know where this will end up going. We are just trying to introduce her to a lot of opportunities.”

As a matter of fact, Aguilera has heard her sing and is impressed! The pop star tweeted about Malea recently:

For now, Malea keeping her options open. When CBS News asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she said, “a singer, doctor, actress, violinist.”

And if you’re wondering if she gets nervous, even with her amazing voice, the answer is yes. And singing still requires a lot of practice and work, she says.

“Always before I sing, my heart will beat really, really fast,” she told CBS.

With her talent, we have no doubt she’ll go far! We can’t wait to follow her as she grows and matures as a performer.
