This 75-year-old naps with cats at his local animal shelter every day

Is there anything better than cuddling up with your beloved pet for a much-needed nap? Terry Lauerman snuggles up with cats for a nap every single day, but none of them are technically his pets. Instead, the 75-year-old visits the Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, a no-kill nonprofit adoption center for cats with physical disabilities, in Green Bay, Wisconsin on a daily basis to snooze with the felines who live there.

The sanctuary snapped some photos of Lauerman catching Zs with his furry friends, and posted them to Facebook along with some words of thanks for his service:

“We are so lucky to have a human like Terry,” the sanctuary wrote. “Terry just came along one day and introduced himself. He said he’d like to brush cats. Eventually it became every day. He brushes all of the cats, and can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days. We don’t mind – Cats need this! Terry is a wonderful volunteer. 😻❤️🐾#nappingencouraged #grateful”

How sweet! Naturally, people were enamored with this adorable volunteer, and the post has now been shared more than 24,000 times. Lauerman has been at it about six months now, and the shelter’s employees say the cats love his visits as much as he does.

Despite his newfound viral fame, Lauerman said he doesn’t deserve all the glory. He pointed to another volunteer, Paula — “who is what he considers the cat grandma,” Elizabeth Feldhausen, the founder of Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, told Huffington Post. “He wants to make sure the people who do what he does every day get credit, too.”

The sanctuary obliged and posted a shout-out to Paula on Facebook as well, noting that she knits blankets for the felines, as well as makes jewelry that she sells to benefit the shelter:
