Everybody Scream! An 8th Harry Potter Book Is Coming Out This Weekend

If you, like the rest of the sentient world, were unsatisfied with the epilogue of the seventh Harry Potter book, listen up—an eighth official Harry Potter book is being released this weekend, and we feel like we could cast the world’s best patronus.

While it’s not technically the same as the first seven, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is good enough for us. HPatCC is actually a script for the play by the same name. Written by our queen J.K Rowling, along with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany, there’s no doubt that this installment will be just as satisfying as the last seven.

If you can’t make it over to Britain to see the book acted out on stage, you can get a version in print or as an e-book. Both the print and eBook versions will be published on Sunday, July 31, following the play’s world premiere this Saturday, July 30 (you can pre-order on Amazon right now).

The full synopsis of the story from Pottermore is this:

“The eighth story. Nineteen years later.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.”

Basically, we can’t wait. A chance to re-immerse ourselves in the magical world of Harry, Ron and Hermione? Heck yes. Accio Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
