Nine Nurses At This Hospital Are Pregnant at The Same Time

Maine Medical Center

Whoa, baby! Count them — nine nurses at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, are all pregnant at the same time. And even more of a coincidence: They’re expected to deliver within three months of each other, with expected delivery dates ranging from April to July.

The medical center announced the news on Facebook writing, “How’s this for a baby boom? Nine of our nurses (8 of whom are in this photo) are expecting babies between April and July! Congratulations!”

Eight of the expectant mothers are shown in the photo, showcasing the dates their babies are expected to arrive, and one nurse is holding two due dates to account for the nurse who’s missing in the photo, according to News Center Maine:

The women work in the labor and delivery unit of the medical center, and they couldn’t be more thrilled to be going through this experience alongside their co-workers and friends.

“I think it’s wonderful we were all friends before this, and now we’re all friends going through something together,” one of the moms-to-be told NBC News.

Nurse Amanda Spear echoed that feeling. She told WMTW News, “It’s really nice coming to work and seeing other people who are just as pregnant and watching their bellies pop and just talking about these experiences that we are going through together.”

With each pregnancy announcement, the crew grew more and more excited.

“I feel like every other day we would come into work and it would be like, ‘someone else is pregnant,’” Spear told News Center Maine.

And nurse Samantha Giglio told the publication, “It was more exciting each time seeing who else was pregnant.” She also pointed out that it’s comforting to know they have support throughout their pregnancies and after.

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time multiple co-workers have all been pregnant at the same time.

In May 2018, Franklin Park Pediatrics in Toledo, Ohio, announced that five of their staff members were expecting. They, too, shared the news on Facebook:

By June 2018, the first of the baby-boom moms had already given birth, which the pediatrics center celebrated in a Facebook post:

And in July 2018, six nurses from Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, were also expecting at the same time. The announcement came via the Wake Forest Baptist Health Facebook page. According to the post, these nurses adorably consider themselves “pregnant buddies”:

These moms-to-be are certainly in good company. Congratulations to these nurses and their growing families!
