Most parents hope their kids will look their absolute best on picture day, and that usually involves dressing them in the perfect outfit. The Arsenault family from Maine, however, likes to do things a little differently.
A sense of humor must run in the family because Jake took them up on their silly request.
His dad, Craig Arsenault, took to Facebook to share the resulting hilarious picture, nothing that he “couldn’t be happier” with the way it turned out:
“My wife and I dared our son to wear a hotdog costume for school pictures,” he wrote alongside his son’s photo ID for Biddeford Intermediate School. “The school let him do it, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Many other people thought it was pretty funny, too, as the dad’s post has since gone viral, racking up more than 5,000 comments and 32,000 shares.
“Jake was wondering what he should wear for school pictures, and we had this costume laying around from two years ago when he wore it for Halloween,” the proud dad explained to HuffPost. “My wife Kari just blurted out that he should wear it. Jake didn’t want to at first, so I told him I’d give him 10 bucks to do it, as it would be hysterical.”
He was right!
Just in case there were any problems, Jake’s parents wrote a permission note for their son, so the school would know they were on board with the funny costume. It was also a big hit with Jake’s classmates, as his dad told “Today” Parents that his son received a lot of high-fives in the hallways that day.
Hilarious! We can’t wait to see what they come up with for next year’s picture day.
