Iris Grace is 6 years old and was diagnosed with autism in 2011. She has been described as, “delightful, funny, serene, dainty, intelligent, crafty and utterly gorgeous!” And now she also can be described as a beautiful artist.
Her parents were seeking ways to help her better communicate with the world, and they found painting to be an amazing tool. Through her love of painting, her parents say she is having more and more “good days.”
From her website:
We had been encouraging Iris to paint to help with speech therapy, joint attention and turn taking…Her autism and incredible concentration span has created a style of painting which I have never seen in a child of her age, she has an understanding of colours and how they interact with each other and she beams with excitement and joy when I get out the paints.
Her artwork has grabbed the world’s attention:
Here are some of her works:
Blue Water
Sunny Day
Early Morning Water
Music at Sunrise
Underwater frog
