Jennifer Lopez was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the 2018 VMAs and put on an epic performance of her greatest hits, including “On the Floor,” “Dance Again” and “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.”

Audience members cheered as she danced and sang in her undeniable J. Lo way, but her biggest fans of all were right there on the front row. Her boyfriend, former baseball player Alex Rodriguez, and her family, including her twins, Max and Emme, were there to support her.

You can see J. Lo’s incredible performance in this video from MTV’s YouTube channel:

We already know Rodriguez is a huge fan of hers, and he didn’t disappoint in this role at the VMAs, where he snapped photos and videos of her performance. On social media, people couldn’t help but pick up on how sweet it was.

Twitter user @Morgan44Brown pointed out that A Rod had the same mesmerized reaction as anyone would while watching Lopez. “Let’s be honest. A Rod watching J Lo tonight was all of us watching J Lo tonight,” the Tweet read:

Others couldn’t help but chime in that they wanted a partner as supportive as A Rod, too.

“I just want my man to look at me and smile the way A. Rod is grinning at J. Lo’s performance right now,” Twitter user @CheryDooWop wrote:

Another noted that A Rod’s reaction to J Lo was the best part of the whole night. “My favorite part of the VMAs is A Rod standing in the front taking a video of J Lo performing,” Twitter user @PoojaDaya wrote:

Agreed!

It was so great to see Rodriguez loving J. Lo’s performance and moment in the spotlight as much as everyone else did, but his cuteness started well before Lopez even took the stage.

He was taking photos of her when they walked the red carpet, too.

They still posed together, of course, but he let her have her moment, and you’ve got to love that.

And before the day of the VMAs arrived, Rodriguez was raving about Lopez and her accomplishments online.

He gave a sneak peek into her rehearsals on Instagram.

“The amount of sweat, focus, drive and determination she puts in everything she does is truly inspiring. She’s the embodiment of what the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award represents. A lifetime of achievement, and she still reaches for the sky every single day,” he wrote.

And all of his support definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. When Lopez accepted the award, she acknowledged just how big of a motivator and partner Rodriguez has been to her.

“We’re like mirror images of each other,” she said. “My life is sweeter and better with you in it because you make me realize every day the sky is not the limit. The universe is infinite and so is what we can accomplish together with love, trust and understanding. There is so much more to do, to experience, and there’s no one I’d rather do it with, baby.”
