In what can only be called one of the most heartwarming stories we’ve heard all week, Aly Taylor’s unexpected journey from breast cancer to motherhood is nothing short of a miracle.

As TODAY reported in a news segment aired in early August, Taylor was was treated for stage 3 breast cancer five years ago. She was just 24 years old at the time. She had been trying to get pregnant when her cancer was discovered.

Needless to say, she had to switch gears and focus on her health. This meant undergoing a double mastectomy and chemotherapy. When doctors informed Aly Taylor and her husband, Josh how radiation treatment made her unable to conceive, the couple considered adoption.

Adoption and then a surprise for the new mom

Fast forward to 2015, when the high school sweethearts from Louisiana adopted a baby girl, Genevieve. The parents enjoyed their new life.

Then one day, when Genevieve was nine months old. Aly recalled feeling nauseous as she cared for her daughter. On a whim, she decided to pull out an old pregnancy test she had kept.

Sure enough, the couple learned Aly was pregnant! And they couldn’t have been more surprised, Aly told Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford on TODAY. After all, the doctors said there was a slim-to-none chance a natural pregnancy would happen. So Aly and Josh never expected a new baby.

If you think it can’t get any better than this, just wait!

The baby surprises kept coming

About a month into Aly’s pregnancy, Genevieve’s birth mother reached out to the couple to tell them she was pregnant again. She asked if they wanted to adopt Genevieve’s biological sister. The only catch? The birth mother’s due date was within a few days of the Taylors’ daughter Vera’s due date.

“She said, ‘Aly we’re not expecting you to adopt this baby because you’re pregnant,’ but immediately my heart was drawn to this baby,”’ the overjoyed mom said . “I just could not imagine saying no to another baby when at one point we didn’t know if we’d ever have children.”

TLC also featured the Taylors on its show “Rattled.” With such an incredible story, it’s no wonder the networks want to share it with the world.

Today, they’re a happy family of five. And Aly, now 30, has been cancer-free for five years.

Congratulations to the mama and the entire family!
