‘Alaskan Bush People’ Mom Ami Brown Says She’s Cancer-Free
She was told she had a 3-percent chance of survival.
After a frightening year, Ami Brown recently got some great news.
Brown, star of Discovery Channel’s “Alaskan Bush People,” received a grim diagnosis last spring of advanced lung cancer. She was given the terrifying statistic that survival rates are as low as 3 percent but chose to endure months of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Despite the dire outlook, Brown was hopeful that treatment would be successful and that she would beat the odds.

Brown Gives Credit To Caregivers
“You go to the chemo room and for radiation, and there are faces there that you’ve grown used to seeing and then you go in again and they’re not there and it’s really sad. But the caregivers fill those rooms with so much sincere love and hope—and that’s food for the soul. God gave me a great gift in them,” Brown told People.
The reality TV star admitted that her treatment was painful and took a toll on her body, including a complete loss of appetite which led to a dramatic weight loss. These days, she’s apparently feeling much stronger and said she has a renewed appreciation for food.
Fans of the show got an update on Brown’s condition when she appeared on a special Christmas episode of “Alaskan Bush People” in December and shared the news that she was officially done with treatment.
Brown hopes that her story will help others be appreciative of the good in their lives. Although she will have to continue to monitor her health for the rest of her life to ensure that the cancer has not returned, she said she’s grateful for the life she has been given.
Wishing Brown all the best in her continued recovery!
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Cancer Battle
“Veep” actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced her breast cancer diagnosis to the world in September 2017, and since then she’s been keeping fans updated on her journey.
The actress reached a major milestone this month by completing chemotherapy treatment. To celebrate, her sons made her sweet and funny video.
As you’ll see, sons Charlie and Henry Hall got a little help from a well-known Michael Jackson song to make it happen. Louis-Dreyfus decided to share the video with the world on Instagram, and boy — are we glad she did!
She captioned the post, “My beauty boys @henryhallmusic and @charlie_hall made this for me today, my last day of chemotherapy. Pretty swell, right? Ain’t they sweet?”
This is great material, and it’s no wonder Louis-Dreyfus wanted to share it.
Louis-Dreyfus also was in the news again this week after winning more SAG Awards than any other actor in history.
While the actress wasn’t there in person to receive her record-setting award, she said she was watching from home—in her PJs.
I wish I could have been @SAGawards tonight but have to admit it's pretty fun to watch in my pj's. So honored to win. So proud to be a union member. So happy for my @VeepHBO bozos for winning ensemble award. Miss being at the table with you all. How was the chicken?
