Amanda Seyfried Tells The Story Behind ‘Mamma Mia’ Cast’s Matching Tattoos

Have you ever thought about getting matching tattoos with your crew to let everyone know you’re BFFs? “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” star Amanda Seyfried says that’s exactly what she and her co-stars from the movie series did to express their loyalty to one another.

Seyfried stopped by “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on July 20 to promote the new movie, and she told the host that she and co-stars Rachel McDowall and Ashley Lilley — who played her character Sophie’s best friends and bridesmaids in the first “Mamma Mia!” movie from 2008 — got matching tattoos of the word “minge” on their feet after wrapping up filming to commemorate their friendship.

The actor explained that “minge” is a British slang term for “vagina,” but that in other parts of the world, such as in the United States where she’s from, the word doesn’t really have any meaning at all.

For Seyfried and her co-stars, it’s considered a term of an endearment and somewhat of an inside joke. Although she says she gets some strange looks when people notice her tattoo when she’s in the U.K., Seyfried says she doesn’t mind.

Judging by recent posts on her Instagram account (where her handle is @mingey, by the way), Seyfried looks like she’s been having a blast with all the events and promotion surrounding “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” Here she is at the London premiere of the film on July 16 along with two of her other co-stars, Meryl Streep and Lily James:

And here she is sharing a laugh with James and another superstar castmate, Cher:

Even though she’s the star, Seyfried is just as big of a fan of the franchise as the rest of us, so of course she hit the movie theater on opening day with her mom and friend to catch “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”:

Who’s going to be your plus-one when you head to the theater?
