Amazon is selling Halloween versions of classic ‘Christmas village’ houses

It seems as though everyone knows someone who goes all out on those festive ceramic Christmas villages, complete with snow-flocked trees, carolers and charming little houses with lights in the windows. Have you considered starting your own village collection, but decorating for Halloween is more your cup of tea? If so, you will love the Halloween village pieces available from a company called Department 56.

If that brand name seems familiar to you, it’s likely because they are well-known for their holiday village collections. These include an original snow village, a Charles Dickens-themed village and even a Harry Potter winter village. But you might not be aware of their frighteningly fun Halloween village collection.

There are dozens of pieces available in the Department 56 Snow Village Halloween series. You’ll find buildings, characters and accessories — such as vehicles, trees and even a cemetery complete with frolicking ghosts and ghouls. Many of them light up, too!

There are so many pieces in this collection that range from cute and funny to creepy and spooky that you can opt to take your decor in whatever direction you choose. For instance, George Ledoux (@GLedouxVoiceovr) included characters and pieces from the Addams Family set in his village decor.

“The Addams Family has a home in my Halloween village,” he tweeted.

Others collect pieces they adore and find creatively creepy ways to show them off, like Rae Davis (@Silvrleafevents).

“How I display my #Halloweenvillage,” she tweeted, with this captivating photo of a coffin shelf setup.

You can shop the collection on Amazon, where pages of Department 56 pieces are available. Not only are there options for every decorating style, but there are pieces to fit any budget. For instance, you can get a set of six tombstones for $17 and this illuminated haunted wishing well is $30.

Many of the buildings start at around $60 or $70. This Happy Halloween House set, which includes a home with lights, a tree, a figurine and a bag of fallen leaves, costs $70 right now.

Several pieces are much pricier: Many of the Halloween village homes cost upward of $100. But if you love all things Halloween — and are looking for alternate ways to celebrate the holiday this year — you will definitely want to check out this series.
