Amazon Sale: How To Shop Prime Day Like A Pro

It's never too early to start preparing!

Amazon’s biggest sale of the year, Prime Day, is approaching, and while the official date has yet to be announced, it’s never too early to start preparing.

Last year’s sale kicked off on July 16 and lasted for a day and a half, featuring the best deals Amazon had to offer. And the sale seems to get bigger and better with every passing year.

In the past, the sale has featured deals on electronics, kitchen gadgets, fitness gear and so much more, with all of the discounts available exclusively to Amazon Prime members. What will you be able to snag this time around?

If you’d like to be able to take advantage of the savings opportunities on the way, there are a few things you need to keep in mind while shopping. Consider this a checklist for everything you need to get prepped so as to ensure you’re making the most out of Prime Day 2019:

1. Become A Prime Member

First and foremost, make sure you’re an Amazon Prime Member. The discounts on Prime Day are available exclusively to Prime Members, so you’ll have to sign up for a free trial, at the very least, before taking advantage of the day’s deals. There are plenty of perks that come along with the membership, but if you don’t want to pay the monthly fee to maintain your membership status, you can always discontinue once the 30-day free trial period has ended.

2. Know When And Where To Shop

In the past, there’s been a separate section on Amazon for Prime Day deals. You can visit the Prime Day website here and stay tuned for more information. The site currently states that “Prime Day 2019 has not been announced” but, once it has, you’ll likely be able to find all of the information you need there. According to Business Insider, you’ll also be able to shop the Prime Day deals from within the Amazon app, so be sure to download the app if you prefer the mobile method of shopping!

3. Get Organized

With all of the deals going live once Prime Day launches, shopping can be a bit overwhelming, so it helps to have an idea of the items you’re hoping to score deals on before going in. Amazon has a “watch this deal” option on upcoming sales, so this could be a helpful tool when planning out a shopping strategy.

4. Take Advantage Of Lightning Deals

The Prime Day deals will only last for a short period of time, but the lightning deals featured during the shopping window will be even shorter-lived. So be sure you’re keeping an eye on these, as they go by quickly and are typically only available while supplies last.

5. Take What You Need, Leave What You Don’t

While the deals will be tempting, the whole point of Amazon Prime Day is to save money. So don’t get caught out purchasing items you don’t need just because it was available at an insanely discounted rate. Sticking to a list of items will definitely help you save money in the long run and keep you from getting swept up in the Prime Day madness.
