Parents and kids alike have been eagerly awaiting the addition of a boy doll to the American Girl lineup and that day will finally come to fruition as of Thursday, Feb. 16.

As part of its 2017 plans, American Girl is releasing an expanded set of dolls and with them comes the first-ever boy doll. His name is Logan Everett.

Logan has brown hair, gray eyes, wears gray sneakers and a T-shirt, and plays the drums. He accompanies his friend   Tenny Grant, who is a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. She is also set to debut on February 16.

Julie Parks, the director of public relations at American Girl told The Huffington Post that the company regularly receives feedback from parents and kids, and many of those requests are for new characters with “more experiences, more diversity, more interests.”

She also went on to say that adding a boy to the American Girl lineup has been a number one request for a very long time.

While Logan is making history for the company as the first-ever boy doll, American Girl has been busy creating new dolls at a faster pace than ever before.

This will be the second big debut for the American Girl company as they also released their “Girl of the Year” doll, Gabriella McBride, just last month on Jan. 1.

Set to debut in April, the company will release a doll version of Z Yang, a Korean-American character known on American Girl’s YouTube channel, and according to The Huffington Post, American Girl is also planning to debut a Hawaiian character named Nanea in the fall of 2017, whose story is set during World War II.

With all of the new releases coming out over the course of the year, while Logan will be the only boy doll, he will surely be in good company.
