Amy Poehler admits she’d love to do a ‘Parks and Recreation’ reboot

The incredible duo, Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, recently appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” so, naturally the topic of “Parks and Recreation” came up. The former “Parks and Recreation” co-stars were actually chatting with DeGeneres to promote their latest project: the new TV show, “Making It,” which they co-host.

“Making It” is a reality competition series centered around a group of creative contestants who produce handmade goods that they hope will impress Offerman and Poehler. This sounds great and all, but DeGeneres was far more interested in the idea of a “Parks and Rec” reboot — as are all of the show’s fans!

Poehler admitted that she’d love to have a reboot of the show, and she thinks her castmates would, too.

“I’ll speak for everybody and say we would all do it. I think we’d all do it someday — it’d be amazing,” she said. Offerman jokingly chimed in that Poehler was “the boss of the show,” so if she wants it to happen, maybe it will!

He also joked that they’d start the show up again if Beyoncé were to appear as the mayor of Pawnee. Or Oprah, for that matter. So, looking at you, Beyoncé and Oprah.

Successful Reboots

Megan Mullally, Offerman’s wife, has seen success in the reboot of “Will & Grace,” so there is hope that a “Parks and Recreation” reboot could be just as popular as the original show, which wrapped in 2015.

Of course, “Will & Grace” isn’t the only example of successful TV revivals. Recently, “Roseanne” has also been a major hit upon its return to TV, and “Full House” fans have enjoyed catching up with the Tanner girls in Netflix’s “Fuller House.”

Other shows that have been given new life in recent years include “Gilmore Girls,” “The X-Files,” “Arrested Development” and even the reality makeover series, “Queer Eye.”

The reboots of classics keep rolling on in, too. New adventures of old “Charmed,” “Murphy Brown” and “The Magic School Bus” are reportedly in the works.

It’s too soon to tell if Offerman and Poehler will appear together on another “Parks and Recreation” set, so for now, we can catch them on “Making It,” premiering July 31 on NBC.
