Angelina Jolie has impeccable style, but she isn’t exactly known for keeping things prim and proper. Some of her most iconic red carpet looks really bring the va-va-voom. But when attending a royal event, you do as the royals do — and there’s no better style icon to look to than Meghan Markle when it comes to the fanciest of royal affairs.
So when Jolie attended the Service of Commemoration and Dedication, a service in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, she chose to give a nod to the Duchess of Sussex with her outfit choice.
The actress wore an off-white gown with a bateau neckline that dropped into a slight cowl neckline, which is reminiscent of the neckline Markle showcased at the royal wedding:
The dress was designed by Ralph & Russo, the same designer who created the beautiful gown Markle wore in her engagement photos:
To complete the look, Jolie sported a low bun — a Markle signature hairstyle — and a hat, in royal tradition of course:
The hat even seems similar to ones Markle has worn in the past:
Jolie’s dress also had an accent at the waist, a figure-flattering style Markle has become known for as well:
Markle has sported a belt or some other form of accent around the waist at several royal occasions:
The actress even ditched her signature red lip and opted for a more minimal makeup look:
And if you’re wondering exactly why Jolie was in attendance at a royal event in the first place — well, it’s actually her royal right to be in attendance at an event of this caliber considering she was honored by the queen back in 2014.
At the time, she was given the title “honorary dame,” which is the female version of “knight” — no big deal — for her work to combat sexual violence in war zones.
And we must say, she carried her honorary dame duties out very well. But it’s hard to go wrong when you’ve got a fashion icon like Markle to look to for guidance.
Yet another incredible style move for Jolie — not that we’re surprised.
