This App Takes Selfies Of Your Cat When You’re Not Home

Candid Catmera

If you’re someone who has cats, you know how hard it is to be away from them. Maybe you even wish your cat could be able to text or Snapchat you—you know, just to make sure they’re okay when you’re not home (No? Just me?). Although your pets probably aren’t able to Facetime you, there’s now a way you can get selfies from your cat sent to you when you’re out and about.

That’s right: A new app called “Candid Catmera” snaps adorable pictures of your kitty and sends them to you when you’re away. To get these photos, you choose a sound that attracts your cat—such as the sound of shaking cat food—in hopes of captivating your animal. Once your cat is lured in, the app starts a game that puts your cat in the mood to play. While the cat is pawing at pictures of fish on the screen, the app snaps photos of your kitty in action. It will then send the photos to you via text, so you can finally see what your cat does when you’re gone.

The app is available on both the iPhone and iPad for $2.79, although it would make most sense to use the app on your iPad since you probably take your phone with you when you’re not home. And, if the app sounds a bit over the top to you, you might be reassured to know that it’s being sold for a good cause. A dollar from every download goes to the ASPCA to help support animal shelters.

It might be hard to get your cat to pose for pictures with you, but now you can let the app do the work for you. You’ll never have to worry about your kitty when you’re at work again! Just make sure you don’t go cat crazy all over social media.
