2019 is officially here, and it’s time to start thinking about the year ahead. The new year is a great time to refresh your look. So if you’re looking for a new hairstyle for the upcoming year, consider baby bangs.

These short, blunt bangs are predicted to be one of the biggest hair trends in the new year. Searches for cropped bangs even went up by 51 percent on Pinterest.

Even if you like the chic look, you may feel nervous about taking the plunge. After all, you can’t pin these type of bangs off to the side when you don’t feel like dealing with them. If you’re curious about baby bangs but not yet ready to commit, fake it with some faux fringe.

“The best thing to do for girls that don’t want to fully commit to cutting fringes is to buy them and have your stylist cut them to fit your face,” celebrity stylist Jen Akin told Refinery 29. “Once that’s done, you can apply them yourself on any day you want to switch it up and rock your little fringe.”

Genius!

Back in October, model Kaia Gerber proved herself to be a trendsetter when she rocked the look on the Miu Miu spring 2019 runway.

“I’m obsessed with baby/micro fringe,” celebrity stylist Christopher Naselli told Bazaar.com back in January 2018. “It’s the perfect way to make your haircut modern and open up your face. It’s an edgy statement but yet super soft.”

If you think baby bangs have a vintage vibe, you’re right. Back in the 1960s, stars like Audrey Hepburn popularized the style. The tiny fringe was an integral part of her iconic updo in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s:”
