Baby No. 3 Is On The Way For Billy Joel

It's a good thing he has some lullabies to sing!

It’s official: Billy Joel just confirmed his wife Alexis Roderick is pregnant. The new bundle of joy — the third for the Piano Man, his second with Roderick — is due next month. Congrats!

The happy couple already have one child together, a 2-year-old girl named Della Rose. Joel is also father to an adult daughter, the singer/songwriter 31-year-old Alexa Ray Joel, with his ex-wife Christie Brinkley.

Joel married Roderick in a intimate ceremony in 2015, according to Newsday. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wed the couple, and famous faces like Kevin James were in attendance. It is Joel’s fourth marriage; he has previously been wed to former business manager Elizabeth Weber, supermodel Brinkley and TV chef Katie Lee.

Roderick is a powerhouse in her own right. She is a former Morgan Stanley executive as well as an accomplished equestrian. She met Joel while at a restaurant, and they happily dated for years before tying the knot in the surprise ceremony during a July 4th weekend.

While Roderick is 35 years old, Joel is a bit older than most dads of little ones at 68 years old. (The average age that most men become fathers in this country is 27 years old!)

However, don’t let his age concern you! Research shows that older dads are more likely to have exceptionally intelligent children. And get this, some studies suggest that sperm might actually improve with age, meaning that older fathers will have children who are healthier and live longer.

Wow. But even without these studies, it’s clear that Billy Joel is an excellent father. He told the Belfast Telegraph about Della Rose, “I hang out with her and watch her little wheels spin. And she’s a hoot. She’s a funny kid. She loves to laugh. I like to make her laugh.”

Aww. I bet she also loves to hear daddy sing to her! Can you imagine if Billy Joel sung you lullabies as you were drifting off to sleep? That’s one lucky kid.

Congratulations to the happy family!
