Back-to-school cheat sheet: Where to get the best deals on school supplies

Passionate Penny Pincher

Making sure your kids are prepared to start the school year can be stressful and expensive. And while choosing one retailer and shopping for everything all at once might be the most convenient option, it’s not necessarily what’s best for your budget.

Thankfully, Laurie over at the Passionate Penny Pincher has taken the guesswork out of searching for the best deals on binders, crayons, glue and basically everything else you need to get your child back-to-school-ready.

All you have to do to access what she calls the Back To School Cheat Sheet is head over to the Passionate Penny Pincher website and sign up to get the cheat sheet sent to your email inbox. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be given access to a three-page PDF full of guidelines on where to find the cheapest items when shopping at Walmart, Target, Staples, Office Depot and Office Max.

To give you an idea of the types of deals you can find on the spreadsheet, here’s just a glimpse of this invaluable resource:

For instance, the sheet shows that you can find the cheapest 1″ binder at Walmart and Target for $1.92, but the least expensive 1 1/2″ binder can be found at Staples for $4.49. So to say that this sheet is expansive would be an understatement.

Of course, retailers such as Amazon also strive to make back-to-school shopping as pain-free as possible. You can find deals on everything from hand sanitizer to backpacks on Amazon now.

This Taygeer backpack normally retails for $174.99, but it’s now marked down to just $34.99:

And if your child happens to be going off to college, retailers such as Big Lots have tons of deals to get them dorm room-ready. For instance, you can shop bedding bundle sets for under $30 right now.

This Coral & Gray Quilt Set is just $24.99:

Resources and deals like these can make getting your little one ready for a new school year easier on you, so be sure you’re using them to your advantage when stocking up on supplies.
