St. Patrick’s Day desserts are often geared toward the littlest leprechauns in the family. Green goodies such as Lucky Charms cake and Fruit Gushers Four-Leaf Clovers are lots of fun for sure. But what if you’re looking for something you and the other adults in your life can enjoy?
Not every dessert for St. Patrick’s Day has to be green. In fact, this recipe for Baileys Chocolate Cheesecake may just be the perfect dessert for the holiday!
This Bailey’s Chocolate Cheesecake recipe was shared by Julianne of Beyond Frosting. Her favorite dessert is cheesecake, so it makes sense that she created this masterpiece, which combines a chocolate cheesecake with Baileys Irish Cream both in the cake and in the whipped topping.
If you’ve never made a cheesecake from scratch before, you might think this recipe is too complicated to try. In actuality, Baileys Chocolate Cheesecake is the ideal recipe to make as a first-time cheesecake baker. Julianne gives incredibly detailed, step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow. And you don’t need a lot of ingredients to make it happen.
The chocolate crust is made with Oreo cookies and butter. That’s it. You don’t need anything else to make the rich base of this cheesecake. Sometimes the best things are also the simplest!
Beyond the crust, the rest of the ingredients include cream cheese, sour cream, eggs, semi-sweet chocolate, granulated sugar, Baileys Irish Cream, milk or heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract and cocoa powder. Most of these are basics you probably already have in your kitchen pantry.
For supplies, Julianne recommends a food processor or blender to crush the cookies and a springform pan in which to layer the cheesecake and bake it. The pan makes it easier to remove the cake once it’s done baking and is completely cooled.
And while this Baileys Chocolate Cheesecake is a nice tie-in to St. Patrick’s Day, we think it’s a wonderful dessert to serve year-round!
