Baileys just introduced a red velvet liqueur
Get ready for a whole new way to experience red velvet! Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur has just released a new red velvet flavor and it sounds seriously decadent.
The new Baileys Red Velvet is now available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $23.99 for a 750ml bottle, while supplies last. The limited-edition offering was created in collaboration with the founders of Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown Cupcake bakery. The founders, sisters Katherine Berman and Sophie LaMontagne, helped create the new liqueur inspired by their signature treat, which is also their shop’s top-selling cupcake.
The cupcake is described on Georgetown Cupcake’s website as a “classic red velvet cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a red fondant heart.” How will this play out in beverage form? According to a press release, the drink will carry the scent of freshly baked cupcakes, sweet cream and icing, and will taste “like fresh chocolate cake, topped with a dollop of cream cheese frosting and just a hint of cocoa powder.”
Never tried red velvet? It has a distinct chocolatey flavor but is not as strong as actual chocolate. So if a chocolate cake or cupcake with chocolate frosting is a bit too rich for you, red velvet’s toned-down flavor and cream cheese icing might be worth trying.
If you haven’t tried it or just want more red velvet in your life, take a look at this recipe for quick red velvet bread or try your hand at making these red velvet sugar cookies. Or if the cream cheese frosting is your favorite part of red velvet cake and cupcakes, you might instead want to make these cheesecake bites that include cream cheese, graham crackers, red velvet cake mix, sugar, red food coloring, cocoa powder and white chocolate. Yum!
You don’t have to wait until it’s time for dessert or drinks to enjoy red velvet, though, because there’s also a red velvet coffee creamer on the market. While you could, of course, put the Baileys Red Velvet in your coffee, if you want your morning brew to be dessert-like but you still have to head to work, you might want to go for Coffee mate’s red velvet creamer instead.
Will you be trying Baileys’ new red velvet flavor this holiday season?
