There’s now a brewery in Downtown Disney California for the first time

Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, California has a new first: a brewery! Ballast Point, a San Diego-based craft brewer, has the distinction of being not only the new kid on the Downtown Disney block but also the only brewery in the entertainment district.

In recent years, Downtown Disney has undergone a massive transformation. While Disney will always mean magic to children, the company saw the need to expand its offerings for a mature audience. The Downtown Disney complex became the focal point for Imagineers (that’s Disney-speak for “creatives”), designers, and businesses to create a destination for fine food, dining, and entertainment.

The grand opening of Ballast Point Brewpub welcomed guests to its 7,000-square-ft. space, which includes a restaurant and bar. The upper-level location has an open-air bar, as well as an outdoor patio.

Theming inside Ballast Point Brewpub has a nautical flair. The main bar design is modeled after a ship’s hull. And who needs a fancy crystal chandelier when you can one made of beer bottles? Other design highlights include an entire wall dedicated to black and white sketches by resident artist Paul Elders. The drawings bring together some brewing history along with the mysteries of the ocean.

The brewery boasts more than 50 beers across 100 taps, a brewpub-style menu including burgers, flatbreads, salads, desserts, and a kids’ menu. The whole family can find something to enjoy: from fish tacos to confit duck to a classic California burrito, as sampled by Instagram Disneyland influencer disneylandfoodies:.

Ballast Point Brewpub joins other newcomers to the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim like Wetzel’s Pretzels and the Salt and Scoop ice cream shop. Bon appetit!
