Banana Bread Bottom Cheesecake Is A Truly Decadent Dessert

The only thing better than banana bread? Banana bread and cheesecake together. These recipes combine two of your favorite sweet treats into one dream dessert.

Holly’s Cheat Day has a recipe for this combo that you never knew you needed in your life until now. Her Banana Bread Bottom Cheesecake is exactly what it sounds like: a layer of thick, moist banana bread topped with a layer of rich cheesecake. There’s a third layer, too — a homemade whipped topping.

A springform pan will help you create the banana bread in the shape of a round cake, rather than the loaf you’re used to baking. But, other than that, the ingredients are the same as the classic banana bread you’ve always known and loved. It calls for ripe bananas, flour, cinnamon, vanilla extract and a few other ingredients to yield tasty banana bread.

The cheesecake layer can be easily made using cream cheese, sugar, milk and a few other ingredients. Gelatin powder helps give this layer its decadent cheesecake consistency.

The recipe specifies that the whipped topping is optional. But given how easy it is to whip up,  why would you ever want to skip this step? All you’ll need to make the topping is heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, sugar and a caramel drizzle for added flavor.

All of this combined will yield this amazing creation:

You’ll need some time for this recipe, as the banana bread has to cool before assembly. Once you’ve poured the cheesecake batter in, you’ll need to place the dessert in the fridge to let the cheesecake set. Then, it’s time to top it with whipped cream. The final step: slice and enjoy!

If you want to take this dessert a step further, a recipe from Bobbi’s Kozy Kitchen suggests adding chocolate chips to the banana bread layer. To complete this masterpiece, top it with chocolate shavings, and you’ll wind up with something like this:

Here’s yet another take on combining these classics. Instead of using banana bread as the “crust” for your cheesecake, stuff the layer of cheesecake inside the banana bread. This recipe for Cheesecake-Stuffed Banana Bread from Cookies & Cups walks you through how you can layer banana bread batter and cheesecake to bake up something unexpected and delicious:

Apparently, if you haven’t been eating banana bread and cheesecake combined all this time, you’ve been doing it all wrong!
