Barbra Streisand Did Carpool Karaoke, And It Was As Epic As You’d Imagine
There’s no doubt that James Corden has had the best of the best sit in the passenger seat while he cruises around town doing Carpool Karaoke on “The Late Late Show.” Artists from Michael Bublé and Paul McCartney have joined Corden to sing tunes in the car, and now he’s added another musical legend to his list of guests.
Barbra Streisand joined Corden for the latest taping of “Carpool Karaoke,” and this episode was far from average. Because, come on. It’s Barbra.
For starters, Corden had to be picked up by Streisand after coming out to a boot and a ticket on his car. So, Corden was in the passenger seat while Streisand drove for this special edition of Carpool Karaoke.
Turns out Streisand’s ability as a driver might not be quite as good as her abilities as a singer. Corden joked he was scared for his life but had to admit, it wouldn’t be a bad way to go.
“If this is how I go out — I’ll take it,” he said. “It’s a good way to go. ‘How did he die? Barbra Streisand … he died at the hands of Barbra Streisand.’ ”
Fortunately, nothing happened on the drive (unlike when Corden and Adam Levine were pulled over during Carpool Karaoke), and from the beginning, the two were having a great time. And of course, they sang along to some of Streisand’s hit songs while cautiously cruising about, jamming to “No More Tears (Enough is Enough),” “The Way We Were” and even some of her newly released music such as, “Don’t Lie to Me.”
You can see it all go down in this video from the YouTube channel for “The Late Late Show with James Corden”:
Streisand is an amazing artist who has done just about everything, including acting, singing, directing and composing, throughout her career. She’s only one of just 15 EGOT recipients — people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
But she admitted to Corden that she doesn’t see herself in a mega-star kind of way.
“I never think of myself that way, you know,” she told Corden.
When he pushed and said, “You must do on some level. You must think, ‘well I’m Barbra Streisand,'” she was adamant in her response.
“No I don’t,” she insisted.
And even the Streisand said she still gets anxious before a performance. “I don’t get nervous-nervous, but I don’t enjoy it. I get scared,” she admitted to Corden. “I just don’t want to disappoint people.”
Streisand has never let fans down before, however, and we have a feeling she’s not about to start.
According to a recent Tweet from Streisand, her latest album is available now:
