This Man Found 3 Bear Cubs In His Car While The Momma Bear Hung Out Nearby

They say you should be careful what you wish for, and one man certainly learned that lesson when he encountered three bear cubs inside his car. Chad Morris of Owensboro, Kentucky, was in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, when he returned to his car to find a black bear cub attempting to climb into his vehicle through the open window. Soon, two more cubs joined, and Morris noticed their mom nearby, watching their mischief.

Morris, who had recently been vocal with his friends about his desire to see a bear, thought he was perhaps the victim of an elaborate practical joke.

“I was telling my friends, ‘I want to see a bear, I want to see a bear,’ you know?” Morris told NBC 14 News. “Been lifting weights a little bit, want to see a bear, tussle with a bear and it was like well, you get four on one, now what do you wanna do, big boy? And I was like nah, I’ll pass.”

Morris was able to snap some photos of the incredible encounter, which he posted to Facebook:

“Is this real life…tell me we are being punked,” he wrote alongside the unbelievable photos. “3 bear cubs in my car and the momma just lurking!!”

Wow! Thankfully, the bears did not cause much damage to his car, although they did manage to rip a chunk out of one the seats. Morris said he wouldn’t be leaving his car windows down again.

About 1,500 black bears live in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so bear sightings are not all that uncommon in Gatlinburg.

While Morris had been hoping to spot one while there, he now feels he’s had his fill for a lifetime.

“This won’t happen again,” Morris told 14 News. “It’s like I want to be reminded every time I get in this car that a bear was in here trying to drive my car.”
