The Beatles ‘Yellow Submarine’ LEGO Figurines Are Almost Here!

Beatles fans will no doubt fondly recall the epic animated masterpiece “Yellow Submarine”  that was released back in 1968. And now, The FABS are ready to set sail once again (wait, do you “set sail” in a submarine?) in their vintage Yellow Submarine—this time in LEGO form.

Let’s have a little mood music, shall we?

This totally FAB set will feature the Liverpool Lads John, Paul, George and Ringo, and Jeremy, a character from the movie. The 550+ piece set will be out November 1, retailing for $59.99. Mark your calendars, folks! We are guessing this is going to be at the top of Beatles’ fans holiday wish lists this year—young and old alike.

The iconic sub measures 5 inches high, 9 inches long and 2 inches wide. Definitely reminds me of this swell Corgi die-cast model.

The really amazing part is that this collection started as a crowdsourcing concept via the LEGO Ideas website, where fans can propose ideas for new LEGO sets. A designer (we assume he’s a Fab Fan) named Kevin Szeto came up with the idea and designed the set himself:

“As an amateur musician and songwriter, I have always been drawn to the music of The Beatles. The creation of the Yellow Submarine model was really my way of showing my affection for The Beatles, as well as trying to pay a small tribute to The Beatles phenomenon. The Yellow Submarine is bright, fun, and colourful, which also made it a good subject to translate into LEGO form.”
