Bed Bath & Beer? Now that’s a store we could get into.
This isn’t just a beautiful dream. Bed Bath & Beyond, the store you love to hate, is going to start serving booze right along with all those sheets and weird “As Seen On TV” items.
Well, at least at one location. A soon-to-open Brooklyn location has secured its liquor license and plans to serve up adult beverages. We are really hoping the smashing success that they are sure to experience with this one store will mean this trickles down to their other stores soon.
According to the New York Post, Bed Bath & Beyond will open a restaurant serving beer and wine within the Brooklyn store. The new concept could be open as early as Black Friday.Sounds like holiday shopping just got a whole lot more fun. Can you say cheers?
This move of mixing dining with shopping is clearly nothing new (see: shopping mall food courts, IKEA‘s Swedish meatballs), but sipping while you shop is a newer trend, made popular by stores like Whole Foods (at locations where alcohol is served).
Now if only Target and some of the other retail giants could make good on their wine-filled promises too. Incentives like these may just inspire us to shop in actual stores and not just from the comfort of our smart-phones.
