These tasty berry cheesecake egg rolls will require all of your self-control
Egg rolls are a staple of most Chinese restaurants. But now, they may just become a staple of the dessert table.
That’s right. There’s a new sweet trend in town, and it combines the crispy, flaky deliciousness of egg rolls with the sweet, creamy taste of cheesecake.
At Cake-n-Knife, Meghan shares her recipe for berry cheesecake egg rolls. The idea came to her when she found herself craving cheesecake but didn’t want to undergo the laborious task of making a whole cheesecake and then letting it set. Instead, she had the genius idea to use the egg roll wrappers she had sitting in her fridge. The result? Handheld egg rolls with a sweet and tangy cheesecake center!
For this recipe, you’ll need egg roll wrappers, fresh fruit (such as blueberries or strawberries), sugar, cornstarch, milk, eggs and more. (Find the full recipe and list of ingredients here.)
Meghan also serves her berry cheesecake egg rolls with crème anglaise, a rich sauce that is the perfect accompaniment for sweet desserts. You can save the leftover crème anglaise and use it for a topping on anything from cake to fruit to pancakes.
Want to make these even more decadent? Then try this chocolate cheesecake egg roll recipe from The Fervent Mama. Brooke makes her recipe with cream cheese, baking chocolate and a hazelnut spread.
It takes just under 30 minutes to prep and cook, and if you have a deep fryer or air fryer on hand, it will be even simpler for you to fry up these bad boys.
Of course, using an air fryer will also make this a lighter, healthier dessert. Sprinkle Bakes makes their cheesecake egg rolls in the air fryer, and they also cut their prep time by using pre-made jam instead of washing and cutting whole fresh fruit. They use fig jam, but you can use whichever flavor you desire.
You’ll never look at egg rolls the same way again!
