Blue Ivy Carter looks set to follow in the footsteps of her famous parents. The eldest daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, eight-year-old Blue Ivy won her first BET Award on Sunday, June 28 for “Brown Skin Girl.”

And it was a family affair, because the song is from Beyoncé’s 2019 album “The Lion King: The Gift.” Blue Ivy shares the award with her mother, Wizkid and Saint Jhn.

According to CNN, the BET HER Award — recognizing women in the neo soul and R&B traditions — made Blue Ivy the youngest ever BET Award recipient.

But it’s not Blue Ivy’s first award for “Brown Skin Girl.” The song took home the Ashford & Simpson Songwriters’ Award at the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards and won the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration category at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards.

Here’s the video of the song from YouTube:

Despite her young age, Blue Ivy has been honing her singing skills for years. She freestyled on a bonus track on her dad’s 2017 album “4:44,” and last year was featured on Beyoncé’s “Homecoming” album on the song “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and the accompanying Netflix special. She has also appeared on other tracks with her parents as well.

While her daughter has been enjoying her time in the limelight, Beyoncé hasn’t been far behind. She won a Humanitarian Award at the BET Awards and delivered an acceptance speech with a call to action.

“I’m encouraging you to continue to take action, continue to change and dismantle a racist and unequal system,” she said. “There are people banking on us staying at home during local elections and primaries happening in states across the country. We have to vote like our life depends on it, because it does.”

The star has been promoting her latest project, a visual album titled “Black Is King.” It will premiere worldwide on Disney Plus on July 31, and the streaming platform shared a one-minute trailer on Twitter on June 29.

And guess what? Blue Ivy is featured on “Black Is King” as well – alongside her dad Jay-Z and former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland. Other guest artists from “The Lion King: The Gift” include Childish Gambino, Jessie Reyez, Kendrick Lamar, 070 Shake, Pharrell and Tierra Whack.

“‘Black Is King’ is a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience,” Disney and Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment said in a statement, per Variety. “The film is a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future.”
