Bo Peep is getting a makeover for ‘Toy Story 4’

The creators of Disney-Pixar’s upcoming “Toy Story 4” just dropped some big news on social media about the upcoming fourth installment of the popular movie franchise. A character who was noticeably absent in the critically acclaimed “Toy Story 3” is set to return.

With two simple words and a short video preview, fans of the films were re-introduced to seemingly long-lost Little Bo Peep. And if the video and released images are any indication, Bo Peep has undergone a major transformation since audiences last saw her. Bo has said goodbye to the frills and hello to a more… empowered look.

Gone is the long, poofy, pink polka-dotted skirt, fitted bodice and large pink bonnet. Instead, Bo Peep’s new look features a sleeveless, powder blue jumpsuit, complete with a stylish pink bow for her hair. Of course, she still has her shepherdess’ crook.

Disney also released a still image, which features a dramatic addition to her new outfit — a cape!

The last time Bo Peep was seen was in “Toy Story 2,” all the way back in 1999. In the original movie and the first sequel, the stories heavily implied a romantic relationship between Bo Peep and Woody, Andy’s favorite cowboy. However, in “Toy Story 3,” Andy’s toys make a sad revelation that Bo Peep and her sheep were sold off at a yard sale. Now, it looks like we’ll get some answers as to what really happened to Bo Peep and what’s she’s doing now.

“Bo’s taken control of her own destiny,” says “Toy Story 4” director Josh Cooley in a press release. “While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world. And when Woody shows up, they can’t believe that they’ve found each other again.”

Bo Peep’s return hasn’t exactly been a secret. Back in June 2018, actress Annie Potts (who voices Bo Peep), talked about her involvement with “Toy Story 4.” Though for a while, Potts was unsure of her role in the fourth “Toy Story” movie because of script delays.

“Usually, it takes–from start to finish–two years,” Potts told Radio Times in June 2018. “But because they threw most of it [the script] in the bin and started over [my time on the project has] been extended a little bit. I’ve done a lot of work on it.”

We can’t wait to see the newly empowered Bo Peep on the big screen!
