Disney is making some epic moves these days. Soon after buying the film rights to the smash Broadway hit “Hamilton” (for which the studio paid a cool $75 million), Disney has made a deal with Bruno Mars that has him producing and starring in his own movie.

While details on the plot of the unnamed movies are scarce so far, Mars will create and perform original music for the project.

Mars is one of the best-selling artists of all time, having sold over 200 million singles worldwide. He has won 11 Grammy Awards in 27 nominations.

On Feb. 6, he took to Twitter to confirm the news of his collaboration with Disney:

“If your heart is your dream, no request is too extreme, when you wish upon a star,” he wrote, quoting the classic Disney tune, “When You Wish Upon a Star” from “Pinocchio.” He added the hashtags #MarsMeetsTheMouse, #ImGoingToDisneyland and #YESSS alongside a video clip of him playing the tune at the piano.

Before embarking on his career writing and performing his own music, he wrote songs for other artists, including Brandy, Flo Rida and Travie McCoy. His 2010 hit single, “Nothin’ On You,” marked the beginning of a quick ascension to the top as a solo artist in his own right, and he has since released three major studio albums, all of which were bestsellers with hit singles.

He performed at the Super Bowl halftime shows in 2014 and 2016. In 2017, he launched his 24K Magic World Tour, which became one of the highest-grossing tours of 2018.

Although Mars is primarily known as a musical artist, the new movie will not be the first time he has dipped his toe into the acting world. He voiced Roberto the bird in the 2014 animated film “Rio 2.” As a child, he played a pint-sized Elvis impersonator in 1992’s “Honeymoon in Vegas.”

Mars also showed off his comedy chops when he pulled double duty as both host and musical guest on a 2012 episode of “Saturday Night Live.”

We can’t wait to learn more about his new Disney movie!
