Budweiser is debuting its first alcohol-free beer

Nearly 150 years since their founding in 1876, Budweiser is joining the non-alcoholic beer trend with their very first zero-alcohol beer, Budweiser Zero.

Created to help destigmatize non-alcoholic drinks by providing an option that can be enjoyed anytime, Budweiser says their new zero-sugar, 50-calorie beverage has the same refreshing, full-flavored taste you can expect from Budweiser — but without the alcohol.

Budweiser Zero is available in a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans and 16-ounce single cans, with the addition of a six-pack of 12-ounce bottles coming in December 2020. Although it is alcohol-free, it is still for adults 21 years of age or older.

Budweiser launched the beer with former NBA star Dwayne Wade — who also has a collaboration with a winemaker in California.

“Leveraging his ties to the sports world, Wade helped create Budweiser Zero with the athlete in mind: someone who wants the great taste of a Budweiser without the after-effects of alcohol, particularly while training or in season,” the press release reads.

Budweiser tweeted about the new beer to mixed reactions:

Some didn’t see the point of a sugar-free, alcohol-free Bud, but @Bobbyboy074 replied, “My Dad has diabetes and loves Budweiser now he can have his Bud!!!”

While a first for Budweiser, they are not the only brand to make non-alcoholic beer. Heineken’s 0.0 contains no alcohol, as does Brooklyn Brewery’s Special Effects and Brewdog Stout AF, a non-alcoholic coffee stout. There is also Surreal Brewing Company‘s beers, which also all have zero sugar and just 2.8 carbs per can and can be ordered online for shipping anywhere in the U.S.

If you’re looking for some other non-alcoholic drinks that aren’t beer, Hella Cocktail Co. has a canned, nonalcoholic sparkling Bitters & Soda drink in two variants — Dry Aromatic and Spritz Aromatic — that will make you feel like you’re drinking a cocktail, but without the buzz. You can order them online or find them at Whole Food stores nationwide.

You can even buy non-alcoholic beer for your dog and non-alcoholic wine for your cat if you’re still social distancing and don’t want to drink alone.
