A show about a popular high school cheerleader not known for her brains or brawn who becomes a ridiculously strong, butt-kicking vampire slayer and embraces her destiny of battling evil forces, all set within a high school? Yes, please!

Anyone who knows the cult favorite series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” knows that the show upturned cultural norms. Buffy Summers, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, is still hailed as a 1990s pop cultural feminist hero. The program debuted in 1997 on The WB (now called The CW) and aired for seven seasons.

Well, get ready, Buffy fans, because 20th Century Fox Television recently announced a “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” reboot, with “Agents of SHIELD” scribe Monica Owusu-Breen to write the script.

Currently, there’s no network, no director or star, so it’s in the very early stages of development. That said, we do know one major thing: a black actress will be wielding the stake as Buffy this time around:

In a 2017 interview in The Hollywood Reporter, Joss Whedon, the show’s original creator, expressed some concerns about the potential of a reboot.

“[If] you bring something back, and even if it’s exactly as good as it was, the experience can’t be. You’ve already experienced it, and part of what was great was going through it for the first time. You have to meet expectations and adjust it for the climate, which is not easy.”

So far, there have been some pretty polarizing reactions to this reboot idea, as many diehard fans believe that the show was perfect as it was. Why have another Chosen One in the Buffy-verse? Some, like these Twitter users, think there should be a whole new storyline set around the Slayers:

Outside of the brilliant show that was the original “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” there have been talks of many reboots this year. Who remembers “Roseanne”? “Charmed”? Or even “Clarissa Explains It All”? WE ALL REMEMBER! Even Amy Poehler is itching for a “Parks and Recreation” remake.

I’m in favor of rebooting all of TV’s greatest shows. How about you?
