How To Build This Magical DIY Pergola And Fire Pit
Just think of the summer parties you could have under this Pinterest-perfect pergola!
The weather is warmer, which has many of us spending days soaking up the sun and nights sitting around a bonfire or just relaxing in the backyard with friends.
It’s also a great time of year to work on the yard.
Any by “work on the yard,” we mean adding a fun feature like this DIY pergola and fire pit!
We spotted this tutorial when Remodelaholic shared the project on their Facebook page.
And yes, we agree that the finished project looks like something straight out of a magazine. Not surprisingly, the post garnered over 53,000 shares and 12,000 likes.
The creators of this gorgeous pergola and fire pit are Brett and Lauren, a couple who reside in Alabama.
Here’s what Lauren told Remodelaholic about the cool DIY project:
“We have a passion for restoration and we’re eager to see our property transform,” she said. “Without a doubt, one of our most beloved DIY projects and our favorite area to retreat on the farm is our outdoor pergola and fire pit.”
She continued: “It is truly an outdoor oasis and an area we created for the sole purpose of bringing our family and friends together. It’s a conversation piece around our small town and we love making s’mores, star gazing and relaxing here at the end of the day.”
Build Your Own Pergola
Having a fun place like this would make stargazing that much more fun, right? Well, here’s what you should expect if you decide to take on this ambitious DIY project.
You can find all the detailed instructions for this project on the Remodelaholic website.
The Alabama couple said that all materials, with the exception of seating and lighting set them back about $1,300.
The six wooden porch swings were an additional $100 each. That looks to be about as cheap as you’ll find a wooden porch swing, such as this one we found on Wayfair priced at $93.99.
For the six wooden Adirondack chairs, you’re looking at an additional $500 to $1,200 depending on where you purchase them.
We found some on Wayfair for $80 each.
Another thing to consider before you take on such a detailed and large project is the time it would take you to complete it.
This might be your every weekend for the entire summer. But the finished product is pretty incredible and we’re sure it will be the site of a lot of great memories for years to come!
S’mores Biscuits Are The Newest Dessert You’ll Want To Try
If you thought s’mores were limited to nights around a campfire, think again.
Now you can make this tasty treat—with a twist—in the comfort of your own kitchen. It’s dreamy.
Toss out that old box of graham crackers because this recipe calls for something even more delicious: Biscuits.
That’s right. Chocolate chip s’mores biscuits are about to become your go-to dessert for weekends, holidays and pretty much any night of the week.
Consider adding this recipe to your holiday sweets wheelhouse—your party guests will thank you, as soon as they lick the sticky marshmallow and chocolate off their hands.
You can make your own biscuit mix. Or, if you don’t have the time for that, consider using a pre-made box mix like Eden Passante, who runs the blog Sugar and Charm.
“With some added chocolate chips and then a giant marshmallow stuffed in-between, these delicious chocolate chip biscuit s’mores will be your favorite treat!” Passante wrote.
No argument there. We’ll probably never be able to go back regular s’mores after tasting these.
Here’s what you’ll to make these ooey-gooey treats.
- 3 cups of biscuit mix
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 ½ bags of milk chocolate chips
- 8 large marshmallows
Get the assembly instructions on Sugar and Charm.
If chocolate chips aren’t your thing, Karlynn Johnston at The Kitchen Magpie makes her biscuit s’mores using chocolate truffles. She stacks a truffle and marshmallow in between two biscuits rather than mixing the chocolate into the biscuit mix. Mmmm.
