Burger King’s ‘Whopperito’ Is Half-Whopper, Half-Burrito And We Don’t Know What To Think

Burger King

Have you ever eaten a burrito and thought to yourself, “You know what this needs? Pickle slices.” No? Yeah, neither have we.

Despite this, the Whopperito, a Frankenstein mash-up of a Whopper hamburger and a burrito will be hitting Burger King restaurants this month. This from the makers of the Mac ‘n Cheetos, another fast-food hybrid that we never fathomed would need to exist.

According to an interview with Bloomberg, even top execs at Burger King don’t quite know what to make of the Whopperito. “It’s certainly one of the first times that we’ve tapped into the Tex-Mex category,” Alex Macedo, North American president at Burger King said in an interview. “It’s one of the fastest-growing categories—consumers like the freshness of it, they like the mix of flavors.”

So what’s in this monster of a meal? Well, mostly Whopper ingredients. Ground beef seasoned with a “special blend of spices” and layered with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, pickles and queso sauce. Then the whole shebang is wrapped in a flour tortilla. Feeling hungry? The whole thing can be yours for just $2.99 at participating locations starting on August 15.
