Bush Brothers & Co. recalls 3 kinds of baked beans

If you were planning on serving baked beans at your next cookout, be sure to check the label first.

On July 22, Bush Bros. & Co. announced a voluntary recall of certain 28-ounce cans of Bush’s Baked Beans, Country Style Baked Beans and Original Baked Beans because of potentially defective side seams on the cans.

According to a message to customers posted on the company’s site, “This recall was initiated after our internal quality assurance checks identified the issue.”

“Subsequent investigations indicated a temporary quality issue from one of our can suppliers. The problem was corrected and no other product is affected.”

The products affected are as follows:

28-ounce Bush’s Best Brown Sugar Hickory with case UPC of 003940001977 0 .

The affected cans have lot codes 6097S GF 6097P GF.

28-ounce Bush’s Best Country Style  with case UPC of 0003940091974 and 00340001974 9.

The affected cans have lot codes 6077S RR, 6077P RR, 6087S RR, 6087P RR.

28-ounce Bush’s Best Original with case UPC of 003940091614 and 003940001614 4.

The affected cans have lot codes 6057S LC and 6057P LC.

All the affected products have a best-by date of June 2019.

You can find the best-by-date on the bottom of the can as shown.

And you can find the lot code numbers on the bottom of the can as well.

According to the statement, while no illnesses have so far been reported, the company is urging customers to to dispose of the affected products, even if the beans do not appear or smell spoiled.

The company says they are working with retailers to remove the affected cans from their shelves as soon as possible.
