Butterbeer Donuts Have Arrived And They Come With A Golden Snitch
It may not be quite as authentic as grabbing a mug at the Leaky Cauldron, but one regional bakery chain is taking the creamy butterscotch taste of Butterbeer and turning it into a donut.
The Harry Potter-inspired sweet treat goes on sale this month at Sugar Shack Donuts & Coffee locations. And the most magical part? Each glazed and gold-flecked donut is topped with a Golden Snitch.
Where They’re Made
Muggles in Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C. are lucky enough to live near a Sugar Shack location where they can try this tempting treat.

In an Instagram post, Sugar Shack says this donut fit for a Quidditch player will hit the shelves Oct. 14-15 and Oct. 21-22. Unfortunately, the company isn’t able to ship their masterpieces at this time, which leaves many of us to drool over the Instagram photos of those who are able to accio! the donuts to their mouths.

“We can’t ship for both quality and presentation concerns,” the company wrote, but if you’re local you can pre-order your donuts.
We have to say, after looking at some of the other donut creations Sugar Shack offers, a visit to one of their locations may be in order. Other special flavors include Chocolate With Caramel And Sea Salt, Fresh Peach Ginger, Pineapple Serrano and Tastes Like A Samoa™ (shown below). In other words, these aren’t your ordinary donuts.

Other Butterbeer Treats To Drool Over
Unable to make it to the donut shop? You can enjoy Butterbeer in ice cream form from Yuengling’s, or even try your hand at crafting your own Butterbeer treats!
Blogger Tori at Gringalicious created a baked Butterbeer donut that is frosted with meringue, for a look that more closely resembles the real thing. The dough includes strong black coffee, vanilla extract and a bit of scotch, but it skips the caramel.
Tori says the unique swaps bring out the butterscotch flavor “without having a dry cake.” Once the donuts are cool, you’ll spoon the meringue on top and drizzle them with butterscotch or caramel sauce. Check out the full instructions at Gringalicious.
And if you don’t have a donut pan, this Golden Snitch cupcake could be exactly what you need to get in the spirit for your next Harry Potter movie-thon. Blogger Sheryl at Lady Behind the Curtain added butter and rum flavors to her cupcake, made creamy butterscotch frosting and even topped them with a chocolate frog!
For an extra fancy twist, she explains how to inject each cupcake with a shot of Butterbeer when you’re ready to dig in. Check out the full instructions at Lady Behind the Curtain.
So many delicious and inspired Harry Potter desserts, so little time.
